ROBYN BOULANGER

FOUNDER

My name is Robyn Boulanger, and my spirit name is Memengwaa Ikwe, which translates to Swirling Butterfly Woman in Ojibway. I am a member of the sturgeon clan, and I am from Berens River First Nation, Manitoba, Canada. I graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 2021 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree and once again in 2023 with a Bachelor of Education degree. I am currently studying for a Masters of Education specializing in Indigenous Education at the University of British Columbia. I decided to become a physical education teacher because I believe in the power of education as it creates knowledge, builds confidence, and breaks down barriers to opportunity. Throughout my education, I was a member of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women’s Basketball team from 2017-2023. Basketball has taught me the significance of incorporating physical activity into my daily routine, as it enhances my overall health and improves my mental well-being. Through basketball I have experienced firsthand the positive impact of regular exercise, motivating me to prioritize and embrace an active lifestyle.
